Vance Brought Blame, Not Solutions, to Los Angeles, says Assemblymember González

For immediate release:

Sacramento, CA – Today, Assemblymember Mark González issued the following statement in response to Vice President JD Vance's remarks regarding the ongoing ICE raids and protests in Los Angeles.

"Vice President Vance's visit to Los Angeles was nothing more than a political stunt fueled by misinformation and blame-shifting," said Assemblymember Mark González. "He accused Governor Newsom and Mayor Bass of "egging on" violence — a baseless and reckless claim — while ignoring that it was his own administration's unjustified immigration raids that sparked the unrest.

Referring to Senator Alex Padilla as 'Jose Padilla' wasn't just disrespectful — it revealed the racist ignorance behind his attacks.

Instead of offering real solutions, Vance hid behind lies, scapegoated local leaders, and tried to turn peaceful protest into political theater.

Californians aren't fooled. We see through the noise."

Assemblymember Mark González is the Assembly Majority Whip. He represents the 54th Assembly District composed of the cities of Los Angeles, Commerce, Montebello, and Vernon.
